Part of preparing for the arrival of your baby is making sure you have
everything you’ll need when you’re ready to welcome your new baby.
You’ll need these important papers for check-in:
- Copies of informed consents
- Current insurance card/information and driver's license
- Name of your baby’s pediatrician
- Copies of Advance Directive (if you have one)
You may want to pack a small bag of comfort items, such as:
- Camera and film
- List of who to call
- Camcorder, tape and batteries
- Copy of your birth plan that you and your doctor have agreed upon
- Socks and slippers
- Personal hygiene items, such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash,
lip balm, comb and brush and deodorant
- Books
- Cards
- Baby book
For after the birth and for going home, here are some ideas you may find helpful in celebrating this special time:
- A robe, nightgown, slippers and underwear
- A comfortable support (or sports) bra; if breastfeeding, a nursing bra
- Baby clothes to wear at the hospital and when going home, along with a receiving blanket
- A small amount of money
- Mom’s going home clothes
- Baby’s car seat
